Review of "Пхи-Пхи и Бамбу – бухта Майя Бей и снорклинг (комфорт)" Excursion

A family of two adults and two children, ages 9 and 13, really enjoyed the excursion! We were in a group with only our guide, Jamila, and no other Russians. We departed from the new port, which was a plus when choosing a tour package, especially in the rain. The organization was quick. The meeting area was crowded at breakfast, and two boats departed at once, heading in different directions. Departure was on time, and by 9:30 a.m., the boat had already left the pier. The boat has five rows of two-person seats in the middle, with benches around the perimeter. Capacity is approximately 40-43 people plus crew. The first stop was Bamboo Island. In our opinion, this is the worst spot. There's no real beauty to be found, and the swimming area is demarcated by U-shaped buoys. Swimming is strictly life jackets. There's simply nothing to see there with masks. The water is clear and slightly murky, with sand and driftwood at the bottom. We splashed around in the water for an hour, struggling with our uncomfortable life jackets, and then headed back to the boat. The next stop was at Don Island, the main island of the Phi Phi archipelago, not right on the shore but slightly deeper, perfect for snorkeling. Only here could we see fish, shells, moray eels, and the like. The water was clear, and swimming was pleasant, but the stop was less than an hour, about 40 minutes. After that, the boat moved to the shore, to the so-called pier near the hotel. Everyone went to lunch at the restaurant, where a small buffet was set, but it was enough for a snack. I personally didn't stay there long; I went for a swim to the right of the boat parking lot near the hotel bungalows stretched along the beach. The water was pleasant, with sand on the bottom. There was no need for a mask, but it was a pleasure to swim. We were given an hour for lunch, then moved to Maya Bay, where the film "The Beach" with DiCaprio was filmed. The stop was 50 minutes, but swimming was prohibited. There were plenty of people for photos. You can take a photo without people on the far right side of the beach, where the least crowds go. We saw three baby sharks swimming in the bay; the beach caretaker pointed them out. You can only get your feet wet up to your ankles. And the last stop is in the lagoon, where they offer, for an extra fee, transfers to wooden boats for a ride around the lagoon. We didn't buy this idea, as the main boat is parked in the lagoon, where you can and should swim freely. Personally, I liked this spot the most. After leaving the lagoon, we looked at a Viking cave where swallows collect drool. 🤪 Somewhere along the way, they also show monkeys perched on the coastal rocks from the shore. You can't get out or approach them. In conclusion, a visit to Bamboo Island was unnecessary; you won't enjoy swimming or taking photos here; it would have been better to stay longer at other locations. The trip was long, departing at 9:30 AM, and we returned to the Marina at 5:20 PM. We can't comment on the transfer, as we drove ourselves. Good luck to everyone and enjoy P(h)uket!
