Northern Thailand – Golden Triangle Tour with Temples and Chiang Rai
Description
Day 1:
Arrival at Chiang Rai Airport.
Transfer to a 4-star hotel.
City tour including a visit to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the very site where the relic now housed in Bangkok was discovered.
Visit to the White Temple of Wat Rong Khun, built with the personal funds of its architect and a symbol of contemporary Thai art.
Lunch.
Return and overnight stay at a 4-star hotel.
Day 2:
Breakfast.
Excursion to Doi Tung Garden and the Queen Mother's Residence.
Visit to hill tribe villages, including the legendary Long-Necked Karen (Padung) people.
Transfer to the Golden Triangle area.
Visit to the observation deck and giant Buddha statue.
Journey along the Mekong River to the confluence of the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos. Return to shore.
Lunch.
Transfer to Mae Sai, the northernmost point of the country.
Visit to Doi Wao Temple with panoramic views of Burma and the scorpion symbol.
Return to Chiang Rai. Overnight at a 4-star hotel.
Day 3:
Breakfast.
Transfer to Chiang Mai.
Stop at the hot springs.
Visit to the elephant orphanage with the opportunity to ride elephants (optional, paid separately).
Excursion to the orchid farm.
Ascent to Doi Suthep Temple, located on a mountaintop with panoramic views of Chiang Mai.
Visit to the Umong Tunnel Temple, one of the most unusual temples in the North.
Lunch.
Accommodation at a 3-star hotel, rest.
Day 4:
Breakfast.
Transfer to Chiang Mai airport.
