Thailand is a land of smiles and a tourist paradise.
In recent years, the government has been actively trying to attract even more foreign visitors.
For the 2025–2026 season, new visa regulations are in full effect, designed to simplify entry and support the tourism-dependent economy.

1. Five-year visas for digital nomads

One of the most significant innovations is the introduction of the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
This five-year visa is designed for digital nomads, freelancers, and skilled professionals who can work remotely.

This visa allows stays in the country for up to 180 days per year, with the possibility of a single extension for the same period.
This is an excellent solution for those who want to combine work and life in a tropical paradise.

2. DTV Terms and Benefits

The DTV visa allows entry not only for the applicant but also for their family — their spouse and children under 20.
To obtain the visa, you must have a financial guarantee of at least 500,000 baht (approx. $14,500 USD) in your bank account.

The visa costs 10,000 baht upon application and the same amount upon renewal.
This makes your stay in the country not only legal but also as transparent as possible.

3. Expansion of the visa-free regime

Thailand has also significantly expanded its list of visa-free countries.
It now includes 93 countries, up from the previous 57.
Citizens of many nations can now stay in the country for up to 60 days without a visa, an increase of 30 days compared to previous rules.

4. Visa on arrival and student benefits

The number of countries whose citizens can obtain a visa on arrival has also been increased from 19 to 31.
Additionally, graduates of Thai universities can now stay in the country for a year after completing their studies.
This year can be used for travel, job search, or internships in promising industries.

5. Impact on the tourism sector

These measures are already yielding results.
The trend continues strong into 2025, with millions of foreign tourists visiting Thailand.
Interest in Thailand continues to grow rapidly globally.

As a result, the country is strengthening its status as a tourist and business hub in Southeast Asia.
New visa regulations make travel easier and the economy more resilient.
